The Hamadeh Family

IMG_097

This was a perfect day for the beach!  Of course we weren’t the only ones who had the same idea, so there were quite a few people to watch out for through my camera’s viewfinder.  The most amazing part was how much the light changed throughout the portrait session.  It was a bit overcast when we first started shooting, which is pretty normal for Southern California in Janurary, but about halfway through the portraits the sun dipped below the clouds and WOW……it was just so rich and light……what a treat!  The Hamadeh family were delightful to work with.  Seidy and Bassim are so laid back with their three children (ages: almost 2, 3, and 5) and it was such a fun environment to photograph in.  I loved trying to get each one of kids to smile/pose for me, though with the two younger boys I became content to simply have some form of their face showing, rather than just capturing them running away from me!

Love these shots with Dad and his three kids.

When I can, I try to snap a few images of each child separately with their parents.  I guess I see these types of photos being displayed at the child’s graduation or wedding once they have grown up.

What a fun family!

Now that is a HAPPY 2 year old!

Just adorable.

Dad’s are Masters of getting their children to laugh.

These candid moments are great.

You can start seeing the change in lighting.  The sun was on Full Blast for the rest of the portraits.

I was very happy when I finally got a good expression out of this little guy!

After the portrait session each of the kids “earned” a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup and they decided to share with the camera.

The Feagle Family

IMG_087

Katie and I have very similar little boys.  They love to run, make loud noise, and they are very messy.  For our portrait session I basically chased Ben around his favorite park up in Davis.  I’m not going to lie, it was tough work.  But I love how genuine his expressions are and planning the session right before all of the leaves had fallen from the trees was perfect.  It makes for such gorgeous colors in the photographs!  I’m not sure how much Ben liked me towards the end of the portraits, but I certainly had a great time.

IMG_002

I love how the sun brightens up Ben’s curly locks.

IMG_010

Dad was finally able to wrangle him down for a wardrobe adjustment.

IMG_014

Ben definitely preferred being on his Dad’s shoulders.

IMG_019

Ben went on an adventure is this special forest.

IMG_022

I brought along another one of my backdrops to set up at the park.  It was fun getting to use it with natural lighting and it helped a bit in getting some photos with Ben and both his parents.

IMG_039

Ben’s grandma tagged along for the photo shoot and we snapped some great images of the two of them together.

It makes me so happy to capture images like these next two.  I love how there is real interaction taking place and I am able to freeze those moments and document it for their family.

You gotta love swing time!

This is just a cool shot.  It’s candid and the glow of the light around dusk is amazing.

Thanks for being such a good sport Ben!

Lindsey is 1!

IMG_009

This post is actually very late in coming.  I shot these portraits back in August, but would still like to have them up on my Blog.  I photographed Joe and Jennifer’s (Lindsey’s parents) wedding back in 2007.  I’ve enjoyed watching Joe and Jennifer grow as a couple and then later expand their family to include Lindsey.  We were invited to her first birthday party at AT&T (very lucky little girl!) and then we met up at Heather Farm’s Garden in Walnut Creek to do some portraits.

The Birthday Girl got a visit from Lou Seal to add to the big celebration.

Lindsey loves her uncle and I love this moment I captured.

IMG_096

Lindsey didn’t get too messy while eating her birthday cake, though she certainly enjoyed it!

During Jen and Joe’s engagement session we shot some portraits using this same Cable Car at AT&T park.  I love taking these type of photos where you can see how a family changes and grows.

These are a few of the images we captured at the official 1 year old portrait session.

Naila & Zulfie 11.27.2009

IMG_522

Naila and Zulfie were married in London (that is where Naila is from) this past summer but decided to celebrate here in California the day after Thanksgiving.  I’ve photographed a few of their friend’s wedding so it was nice seeing some familiar faces.  I love getting to experience weddings from different cultural backgrounds and it was beautiful to see their Muslim celebration.

I’ve started bringing these backdrops to weddings, along with some lights, and using them throughout the night.  This setup has actually turned out really well and is so much fun for both the Bride and Groom along with their guests.  Zulfie looked especially sharp in front of this backdrop!

The emotion in these photos is lovely.

Zulfie’s friends put together a hilarious skit that had everyone laughing .

Naila’s sister made a wonderfully heartfelt speech and she definitely expressed how much she missed her sister now that she lives all the way out here in California.

Naila looks dazzling in these colors.
